My chronicle

Those of us who wish justice for Palestinians have been dismayed with what appears to be the overwhelming pro-Israel viewpoint of British Jews, especially at official level. The tendency to accuse opponents of the policies of Israel of being anti-semitic has also caused us much grief and anger.

There have been, of course, some within the Jewish community who have consistently been prepared to condemn the nefarious deed of Israel. They are courageous men and women; for the reaction has been savage.

The statement from Independent Jewish Voices, defying the Jewish consensus has been most encouraging; and the signatories impressive.
